When Polymarket started?
Polymarket started in 2020 when it was founded by Shayne Coplan. The platform launched as a cryptocurrency-based prediction market on the Polygon blockchain.
From 2020 to 2022, it operated globally including access to US users. In January 2022, it was fined by the CFTC and blocked from US customers. It continued operating in other countries during this period.
In December 2025, it returned to the US market after regulatory clearance.
